I know I'm in the minority here, but I just couldn't get into this book and didn't really enjoy it. I kept waiting for it to get better. I had a problem with the Genie thing, I don't know why, I don't have a problem with any of the other paranormal beings. I love Popp's writing and have loved all the other books she's written and I've liked all the other books in the Immortal series. I'm just not sure why this one didn't grab me. When I finished it I thought, oh well.

The Immortal series is a good read, each builds on the former but can be read independently. This is an excellent series.

The biggest thing I liked about this book was that Mai didn't come out unaffected by the events of The Gathering. She has her own demons to deal with. I like that. I thought it was a very good addition to the original series, and I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the second cycle and the anthology coming out.
